Inaugurated in May 1999 under the name of TEATRO AUDITORIO DE ALCAZAR DE SAN JUAN. It is part of the cultural heritage of the city. Since its inauguration it has become the cultural reference of the city.
This facility develops an important activity and its programming is especially aimed at music and theater lovers. It is dedicated to the exhibition of shows related to theater, music, as well as congresses and special days.
In September 2021, the municipal corporation agreed in plenary session to change the previous name to Emilio Gavira Theater, in honor of the actor of the same name adopted and residing in Alcazar de San Juan.
Show more contentThe Emilio Gavira Theater has seven dressing rooms, of which three are for individual use and can be double and triple, one with capacity for 8 people, two more with capacity for 15 and 20 people and another mixed dressing room-make-up room with capacity for 14 people.
Located under the stage is the orchestra pit, which can accommodate an orchestra of 24 musicians.
In 2022, an important intervention was carried out, subsidized within the framework of the call of the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, of Grants for the Modernization of Performing and Musical Arts Infrastructures – 2021, within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, -financed by the European Union- NextGenerationEU.
